Engagement Photos

Engagement Photos & Location

You’ve got your future spouse. You’ve got your photographer. Now you need a location.

We get asked all the time, “where do we shoot?” There’s no magical answer. We customize the session to the look and feel you are going for.

If you want cityscape, Downtown Houston for is perfect. You just have to be mindful of a few city-shooting rules.

If you want Houston skyline, there are good sides and bad sides to capture. And we know the best ones.

BUT if you want a natural, outdoor engagement session you will need to get out of town. Then you have to think outdoor park or giant oak trees… Again, we know some great spots.

BUT if you want a beach engagement session, island-bound is best. Just remember that sunset doesn’t happen over our beaches here in Galveston, which means a sunrise session will be your best bet.

These sessions are some of our favorite and well worth the early morning (no people, gorgeous views, and an entire rest of your day free to explore Galveston island).

Not to mention, Galveston has both beach and historical photo options.

Whichever route you want to take, you’ll want to customize it to who you are as a couple and what speaks to you.

You’re planning an engagement session, HOW EXCITING!

Whether you’ve looked at samples or are a blank slate, there are some things that will make for a stellar session.

If you don’t know, you don’t know you don’t know.

If you know, there’s always more to learn.

We’ve put together a few blogs from real world experience that will help you make the most of the engagement session.

Do you really need engagement photos & why they are so important.

YES. So much YES.

Engagement photos are a great way to gain comfort in front of the camera, build rapport with your wedding photographer, and get relaxed with your posing so that the candid photos you love can happen organically.

The goal for wedding day and engagement photos is true, raw emotion. You can’t plan for it, fake it, or coach it.

You CAN get comfy and relaxed during an engagement session and let the good times (and expressions) roll.

We could go ON & ON about engagement sessions, instead we will let some  clients say it for us.

His and Hers Foto family

   Meet Kristi & Oscar

His

Oscar is a Texas boy, thru and thru… born in Richardson, Texas but quickly heading to Seabrook just south of Houston, Oscar was born into the arts.
He’s grown up with and around cameras.
Not that it’s his only job, but in his adult life that’s all he has ever done or wanted to do.
With 10+ years in family photography and occasional weddings but craving more excitement and challenges, he delved deeper into wedding photography and hasn’t looked back since.

Hers

Kristi is from a melting pot of locations. Born in the Carolinas, she’s also lived in Indiana, Ohio and Tennessee.
She made it to Houston shortly after meeting Oscar and realizing she couldn’t live without him.
Bringing with her years of wedding and family photography experience, and her own load of camera gear, it was a match made in Canon heaven and His and Hers Foto was born.
Together, Oscar and Kristi are passionate about bringing their love of imagery to your wedding day. They also love them some sports (soccer especially) and their two amazing little girls.

Our style would be considered photojournalistic, or documentary.

We want to photograph your event the way you see it during the hours and hours (and hours and hours) of planning. While we can and will do several posed shots, we love capturing those spur of the moment emotions of the event.

Between the raw emotion of the day and the ridiculous amount of planning going into the event, the images need to show it all – and we love to make sure that happens with tons of tips and tricks to help out along the way!

We love bringing some energy, some sass, and a whole lot of creativity to your event.

Our passion is wedding photography, and our muse is you…
